The past eighteen hours had probably been the worst that poor Cecilia had ever been through. It started with random little contractions in the morning that made her squeak and push down on her tummy trying to help the thing along. Then it just got worse. It got so much worse that there were points where Cecilia was literally screaming for Nico to take her to the hospital. Now the equally distressed Nico stayed glued to the phone with both his mother, and the hospital who wouldn’t allow Cecilia to come in until her contractions were five minutes apart. However when they big moment came, things took a turn for the worse again. Cause it was only then that it hit little Cecilia that she was going to actually have a baby if she went to that hospital. Well in reality it was gonna happen either way but she had a way of twisting reality to get what she wanted. Cecilia literally sat down on the bed and crossed her arms, basically glaring up at Nico who was already carrying a very large bag full of her clothes and such. The panicked Nico didn’t take kindly to this at all. And after a thirty minutes of crying and prying her little fingers off the cabinet handles, he finally had her in the cab.
The labor was pretty awful and painful. Cecilia squirmed and begged for drugs from basically every nurse or doctor she saw. Her and Nico had decided to do a natural birth though now she regretted it. Nico was basically perfect through the entire thing. He stroked her hair when she was crying, and lets her squeeze her hand as tightly as she could when it hurt too badly. He even didn’t seem squeamish at the actually pushing park.
Still after all of that, Cecilia was laying in the hospital bed a few hours after pushing out a little baby girl who in Cecilia’s words ‘was scummy looking’ . Thankfully they had taken the babygirl off and given her a good scrubbing. Now Cecilia was laying in the bed, looking half her best, but cradling the adorable sleeping child in her arms. Nico was laying next to her, making the perfect family picture. Cecilia looked up at Nico with her big brown eyes and smiled. “We made the prettiest baby ever” she said, leaning down to kiss the top of her forehead. The baby was the same skin tone as Nico, and had dark hair that was still a little patchy. But she had Cecilia’s over sized brown eyes that took up about half her head. Cecilia grinned down at the baby and could feel herself tearing up.

It felt like so long ago. 9 months just felt like such a long time ago. But bam. Here it was. The very moment everyone was waiting for. And Nico was a nervous wreck. Not that he could let anyone know. No. He always had to be proper and put together; especially for CC. She was a total mess right now. It was hard to believe she was about to have a baby when in that moment she looked like such a child herself.
The contractions started early on in the morning. And boy was it early. It was around 5 am. Nico was fast asleep in the hotel with CC in his arms when he felt a little jabbing poke in his stomach, his side, and even up his nose until he finally completely shook himself awake. “Baby. Baaaaaby. BABY!” Cecilia apparently had been trying to wake him up for some time. “I think it’s time,” she whispered pushing at her belly wincing a bit. Nico got himself up and jumped straight on the phone with his mother. As it was easier for him to speak to his mother in her native language, he simply muttered “CC’s going into labour. We’re leaving now,” in Greek quickly and hung up the phone. Next was to get on with the hospital. Nico had made sure ahead of time that the hospital was close, but private, and actually reserved the largest and most comfortable room for Cecilia as to avoid as much publicity as possible. All the while he looked checked over his shoulders to see CC was doing her part. She had just tossed on sweats and curled back up into fetal position on the bed moaning and whining.
After tweaking some details with the hospital and getting it in the clear that they could be on their way there Nico grabbed CC giant zebra print duffel bag they kept packed up in the closet for this very day. But by this point CC was relenting labour and refused to leave for the hospital. After some begging pleading and delicate prying they were on their way. Nico was still a messy mass of nerves, on and off the phone with his parents, and kept feeling like he’d either pass out or puke. Or both. But after enduring hours of watching his fiancé in excruciating pain, holding on to her hand, coaching her, and enduring her hysterical insults such as “I am pushing you idiot!” and “there’s a tiny person coming out of me fuck no I won’t calm down!” the fruits of their labour finally paid off...quite literally.
Here they were: the soon to be happy Vila Nova family; Nico, Cecilia, and their beautiful baby girl. Through all the stress, arguments, pain, and planning they had finally made it. And honestly Nico was exhausted, as he was sure CC was too. He laid there next to her in the oversized hospital bed, one arm under her head, and the other resting at his side. Cecilia sat there gazing at the newborn there in her arms, who was the exact spitting image of her parents.
Nico couldn’t help but avert his gaze from the baby to Cecilia every once in a while. Even with no makeup on, her long dark hair pulled back into a nothing-special low ponytail, and clad in a hospital gown, she was still the most beautiful woman Nico had ever seen. And at this point he knew there was no one who could ever exist who he would rather spend the rest of his life with. Together they had built their future, brick by brick, starting with this baby, and he couldn’t image the rest of his life with anyone but her. Cecilia gazed up at him only to find him staring down at her. “We made the prettiest baby ever.” With a tear welling in his eye he leaned down and kissed her forehead. “She’s all ours. It’s all us now.”

Cecilia looked down at the baby girl and pretty much forgot that Nico was there for a few minutes. The baby had her eyes closed and was hardly moving, still nothing could have been more interesting to Cecilia. She officially understood what it was like to truly love something. Cecilia would give up anything for this baby. She kissed the baby’s forehead and pulled her a little closer to her chest. She wasn’t concerned with anything but making she that her kid stayed as peaceful as she was now. Cecilia wasn’t even thinking about her future with Nico, just about that moment right there.
Cecilia has completely forgotten that Nico was there until he replied to her comment. She looked up at him finally and smiled. “Thank you” she said, and kissed his cheek lightly. “For helping me make her. It’s like the best present ever.” Cecilia looked away again and down at the baby. “Name!” she half shrieked. Cecilia had picked out many names that her and Nico had fought over. She wanted to name the kid Bethany but Nico said it sound to traditional. They had spent a long time talking about names for a girl and a boy and they had never really been able to figure one out. But now that Cecilia was holding her, cradling her in her arms she always felt the name. Like it just fit so perfectly with the sweet peaceful little girl she was holding. “Delilah” she said, before looking up at Nico for approval.
Cecilia cuddled into Nico a little more, moving Delilah so that she was more in-between them. She was more in a mood to share now. Cecilia’s moods were actually changing very rapidly, damn hormones. She couldn’t tell if she was about to cry, or start laughing. She just knew that she happy. Cecilia rested her head on Nico’s shoulder. Besides being happy she knew very well that she was exhausted and then she need a bit of a nap. As much as she knew she needed to close her eyes and just sleep she couldn’t pull them away from Delilah. “She looks like you” she whispers too tired to really speak normally, or hold her head up anymore. It was true. Even though she was a baby she was still a few shades darker then Cecilia, and had the same full lips. Cecilia giggled and brushed a hand through her curly dark hair.

Looking down at his fiancé and his baby he saw the same innocent, bewildered and dreamy glow about both of their faces, as if they both at the same time, understood that this was the beginning of something brand new and exciting.
“Thank you for helping me make her. It’s like the best present ever.” It was adorable how Cecilia thought of this small child as a present. He was just hoping that she realized that unlike a dress, she couldn’t just return it when it didn’t fit, or like an electronic, she couldn’t just toss it in a drawer when it didn’t do what she wanted it to.
“You’re so welcome baby,” he said, leaning down kissing her forehead again, brushing away the stray hairs. Then suddenly, at almost the pitch of a squeal she said, “name!”
Honestly this was the part Nico had been dreading. They had been scrambling through piles of baby name books since the day they found out they were having a girl. And that stamen was quite literal, on the way back from the doctors after her sonogram, CC had Nico stop at 3 different book stores to pick up ever baby name book they had. They had done everything. They had searched though that book, the bible, the names of all their idols, favourite television character, parents’ names, grand parents’ names, and even band mates’ names. There wasn’t a single thing they could agree on.
"Delilah?” CC uttered, looking to Nico’s face for approval. Why hadn’t they come up with that one before?! As he was about to answer “yes” and wrack his brain for a middle name, he peeked down at the bag he and CC had packed, and there, sitting right on top, was the most recent sparrow necklace he had bought Cecilia for their anniversary. Every year he bought her a sparrow necklace, and cliché as it was, it had become their thing.
He grinned to himself turning back to the dark haired girls at his side and looked down at the sleeping baby.
“What about Delilah Sparrow?”
He couldn’t tell if she approved or was mulling it over but she rested her head on his shoulder moving the baby closer to her. Careful so much as not to wake her he very lightly stroked the back of his finger against her cheek.
“She looks like you.”
“She looks like you too babe. I mean…she is ours.”
He put a great amount of vocal stress on the word ours as he was still trying to get a grasp on this family concept and the overall shock of it really happening. It was the whole entire concept that his future was completely sat out in front of him in these two women…and he was ready to take that head one. Looking down lovingly at the baby he rested his head closer to Cecilia’s.
“You know, I’m thinking vocalist…or maybe bassist.”
