It’s was Koti’s birthday, and Connor was really just trying to make him smile. Not that it was really hard to get that boy to smile, all you really had to do was show him a kitten, or hand him a piece of gum, but Connor wanted to take him out. He knew that Koti didn’t like how they were always around other people, or how they never were able to spend extended amounts of time together. So Connor had taken Koti’s birthday weekend as a little chance to fix that.
Connor had put a lot of planning into this night. He had talked to Oliver last week and asked him to take care of a table all night, and had made sure that he wasn’t playing a show. So in the middle of Koti’s shift at work Connor popped up pretty much out of nowhere, and stole Koti. After Koti had been successfully taken away, Connor then did the most painful thing he could. He took Koti to see It’s All Love. Of course Connor wasn’t that excited about that part because he didn’t like the way Koti looked at Jonah. But he knew that it was mostly the music he was into, so Connor dealt with it. Plus the little grinning mess that Koti became was worth it. The show ended and Connor dragged Koti off to dinner at a random pizza place with video games. The two spend about two hours running around the arcade, most of the time throwing tokens at each other. After that the two went back to the buses for what Koti thought was going to be their usual night of old cartoons, and then sex. But no, spending the night in a bus with the rest of his band wasn’t really romantic. So Connor got back and told Koti to dress warm, before grabbing a bag.
Yes, this was as cheesy as he could be, but Connor was taking Koti to the beach. Forget the cold weather, it wasn’t freezing today just a little chilly, and how often do you get to sit on a beach and look at the New York skyline? On the walk from the bus to the beach the two couldn’t seem to be able to find the perfect mix of touching, and walking. It started holding hands, then Connor’s arm around his shoulder and holding hands. Then Connor’s arm around Koti’s waist with Connor’s hand in his back pocket. It didn’t help that Connor was insisting on stopping every minute or so to kiss Koti for a bit. He just really wanted to touch, a lot. He was sure people passing them were annoyed, but he felt this cold feeling if he didn’t kiss him for too long.
The two finally got to the beach and Connor get up there blanket, with several on top, since he knew Koti would be freezing his ass off. Not only was it February but it was almost midnight now, and a little windy. Connor meant it when he said dress warm. Connor pulled out a thermos of hot chocolate, and a large tin full of oreo brownies. Connor sat down and pulled Koti down next to him, kissing his lips again. “Happy Birthday” he said, passing him a little mug of hot chocolate.

Koti had pretty much forgotten that it was his birthday that day. Not because he didn't count down the days from a month each year, but because he was never sure of the date when they were on tour. But it didn't matter, because Connor had remembered. And he was about the only one, but he was also the only one that mattered, so Coco didn't mind.
He was glad Connor had taken him to see It's All Love. He liked to watch Jonah on stage, and loved to listen to him sing too. He would've thought that Connor would be too jealous and annoyed to let Koti go see them, but apparently not. He wasn't sure if ti was bad to say that he'd enjoyed that part of the day the most. Not because he got to see It's All Love - he could do that any time - but because he got to see them with Connor, and he'd never done that before. Mixing his favourite band on tour with his boyfriend just made it all that much better.
After pizza and video games, the two of them returned to the bus, greeted by a babble of the band members running around laughing. Obviously they were having fun that night.. Expecting Connor to climb into bed like usual, Koti sighed because the day was over. It came as another surprise when Connor told him to dress warm, and that they were going out. He didn't have much in the way of warm clothes, since pretty much all of his shirts were short sleeved and loose, but he did have a thick coat, so he pulled that on.
They strolled down the streets until they reached the beach, Koti now absolutely freezing and a little paranoid, because he hated the dark. If he wasn't with Connor, he'd be scared shitless, but Connor always made him feel safe. He snuggled up under the blankets, and shuffled as close to Connor as he could, sharing their body heat. His lips felt a little chapped, probably because they'd been doing nothing but kissing on the walk over, so he pulled out some apple flavoured lip balm and applied it to his lips before taking the mug of hot chocolate that Connor passed to him, wishing him a happy birthday. He really did know how to make Koti happy.
"It probably isn't even my birthday anymore," he looked up towards the sky, frowning. He couldn't see many stars, not like when he was back home, but the sky still looked nice. "See, it's all dark." If Koti were back home, he wouldn't be staying up late every night with Connor. He'd have to sleep at ten because his mother forced him to. She treated him like a baby, and that really irritated him. Despite his less-than-loving feelings towards his mother, he couldn't help but miss her that day. Usually she'd bake him a cake and hug him on his birthday, and his Dad would sometimes even do stuff for him. Carver was usually out on his birthday, because he didn't care much, but he would make the effort to get Koti a card, and that was all he really wanted.
He shook off the memories of what used to be, and smiled at Connor. "I had fun today. Thank you, Kitten." He chuckled at his new nickname for Connor. It was kinda stupid, and he mostly used it when he was trying to sound dumb. 'Baby' was a better name, and more romantic, but Kitten was more fun.
Koti took a sip from his hot chocolate. "I hope you had fun today too, otherwise it wouldn't have been as good." He looked out over the water. It was fairly calm, and the lights from the city reflected down on it, making it look as though it was sparkling red and orange colours. It was pretty beautiful; an amazing end to an amazing day.

Connor sipped away at his hot chocolate. He wasn’t the biggest fan of sweets, but he knew that they were what Koti’s diet wasn’t mostly based on, so he was gonna drink it anyways. Connor couldn’t help but stare at Koti, he looked best in moonlight. Connor found himself just kind of looking at him a lot, he was a very interesting man to watch, since he was always bouncing around. Even though Koti was covered in his usual make up, and insane amounts of hair spray, Connor wasn’t even really considering complaining. Yes, he would normally make some comment about how he liked Koti without all the stuff, which was very true. He liked it when Koti was natural looking, and kind of messy. That look, with his over sized curious eyes was just unbelievably appealing to Connor.
Connor rolled his eyes and sighed. “Gotta be so technical” he replied, getting a little attitude. “It won’t be your birthday back at the hotel, but we are going to celebrate there too.” Yes, that was Connor’s tricky way to revealing that after the finished this amazing feast, they would not be returning to the crazy crowded bus at all, but instead a hotel room. A hotel that Connor was blown a hell of a lot of money on trying to make it special, but money wasn’t that important on tour. You could flirt food off of any desperate employee, if needed, and your bed was guaranteed for the next few months. It was his way of revealing that, and that they were going to have insanely hot, loud, passionate sex that night.
The sky was a bit of a letdown since there wasn’t a single star, but the moon was very bright. Connor pulled Koti closer to him, being able to drag him around like a pillow was pretty handy. Connor was however extremely paranoid about being gentle with Koti, especially after what happened. He was always making sure that his touches her gentle, and that Koti wanted them too. He was just absolutely terrified of breaking him. “No stars, but look.” Connor pointed more adjusted to them, then over. The insane amount of apartment, and building lights were all lit up, though they didn’t exactly twinkle. “If you really want to see some stars I’ll go get a taxi and we can head upstate.” Connor was slightly kidding, though if Koti said yes, he certainly wouldn’t say no. He would just probably have to blow the taxi driver as payment.
Connor couldn’t help but grin when Koti called him ‘kitten’. He couldn’t deny that it was very cute, but it didn’t exactly fit Connor. It would fit Koti pretty well, but nope, he wanted to stick with booboo, so that’s what he got. Connor slide his arm around Koti’s waist and pulled him into his chest. See, he still couldn’t stop touching him. Connor nodded at him. “Of course I had fun.” He was serious. Today wasn’t full of his favorite activity, but it was full of Koti which pretty much made up for anything. .

Koti grinned at the sound of a hotel room. That was way more romantic that the tour bus, which was full of a bunch of other people, and the beds weren't very comfortable. Koti was always conscious on the buses, because everyone could hear them, and that seemed weird and wrong to him, but he still did it, because it was fun, and he loved Connor, so he had to put his insecurities aside.
"We're going to a hotel?" He bounced a little in excitement, moving a little closer to Connor to steal some of his body heat. "I haven't been to a hotel in ages. Not since.." He thought back to the last time he'd been to a hotel, and suddenly clamped his mouth shut. The last time he'd been to a hotel was with Talon, when he'd got drunk and cheated on Connor. He really hoped that Connor didn't realize that. "Not since like.. forever," he said as a cover up. Hopefully he hadn't just ruined the cheery mood on his birthday.
Connor gazed at the sight of the apartments. Lights shone brightly out of some of the rooms. Despite the fact it was past midnight and a lot of people would be in bed, there were still thousands of lights still on, or it seemed it because of the way the apartments were so densely packed. "Nu uh, I like it here. It's prettier than stars. I've seen stars lots of times back home. They're boring."
Koti shuffled closer to Connor again, and buried his face in the gap between Connor's neck and shoulder. He was glad Connor had had fun. It'd make the whole day seem a lot worse if Connor hadn't enjoyed it with him. And Connor really was the only person he'd want to share the enjoyment with. A while back he would've said that Carver was the only one, because he was the only one Koti liked, but now things had changed. Maybe a while ago he'd even have said that Jonah was the only one, or Abby. Koti was so glad he'd gone to talk to Connor for help when he thought he was gay, otherwise none of this would ever have happened, and Koti would still be miserable, confused, and constantly being teased about being gay. Strange that once he figured out he actually was gay, people stopped teasing him about it.
"Now I'm only three years younger than you, not four. So.. you're not allowed to have a birthday ever again until I catch up a bit more." He smiled, lifting his head from the crease above Connor's shoulder so that their noses were touching. He sort of liked the age gap between him and Connor, but he wasn't sure that Connor did. Koti would never date a twelve-year-old, and it was pretty much the same thing for him and Connor, except the other way round.

Connor wrapped his arm around Koti to share his body heat the best he could. He probably should have picked a place that was warmer, or inside. But he was just going to defend himself by saying that it was Koti’s fault for having a winter birthday. Connor also liked it because he did want Koti to have an excuse to sit as close as humanly possible. Connor laid a few gentle kisses right under Koti’s ear before settling his head right under Connor’s chin.
Yes, Connor knew exactly when the last time Koti had been inside a hotel was. He knew exactly with who and what had happened. However this day did not need any kind of bad emotion so he just bit his lip and let it go. Yes, the thought to Koti being touched by anyone else drove him crazy but he still had to try his best and move forward. “Yeah, I know.” He said, hiding his real emotions very well. “We will cover up that memory with a better one” he said trying his best to shed a little positive light on the subject. Connor didn’t want anything to upset Koti today.
Connor held Koti closer when she moved up to him. The sand under them was actually very comfortable, and the sound of waves had Connor is a very peaceful mood. He pulled Koti onto his lap, and was slightly annoyed by the heavy coats they were both wearing. He pouted up at him pulling on the jacket a little. “I feel like we are separated” he joked, grinning up at him. No, Connor wasn’t expecting Koti to take it off. Connor wasn’t patient, and in all honesty he just wanted a lot more of their skin to be touching.
Connor felt like today was one of the few things that he would only be able to do with Koti. Everyone else would want to go party, or be drunk, or high. Koti was generally happy in any situation Connor had noticed. He didn’t want to be here with anyone else. Well, maybe Tyler. But Connor was repressing those feelings like Koti did when he thought he was gay. It wasn’t that he wanted Tyler more, but he wanted Tyler too. Koti was Connor’s main priority, and best friend. He loved Koti in ways he didn’t think he was capable, and he didn’t understand why. But Tyler he knew exactly why he had feelings for him. He was honest, and fun, and mature. Koti was more powerful, but Tyler made more sense. Connor shook his head really not wanting to think about such a thing at this moment.
The fact that Koti was younger was not exactly a turn on, nor a turn off for Connor. It just was. He left like Koti was capable of more emotions than any other sixteen-year-old and that’s what made it different. Connor couldn’t less about their ages. Still he looked up at Koti and gave him his big brown eyes which Connor had made looks sad. “But I want birthday party, with presents” he whined. No, he was not going to tell Koti that his begging face was stolen from him.
