Melrose looked in mirror in the bathroom of her bands' bus and smiled. Since her band was new on the tour, she didn't really have much time to go and check out anything, really. Tonight, that was exactly what she was going to do. She played with her for a moment then looked at what she was wearing. She smiled again. She wasn't going to lie, she looked hot. But then again when didn't she? Even in the morning in a tank top and a pair of sweatpants, she still looked good. She adjusted her makeup just a bit and left, hailing a taxi just moments later.
She climbed into the back of the cab and smiled deviously at the driver. "Take me to the hottest club in town, doll," she said, grinning as the man nodded slowly, still looking at her. After a moment he began to drive, and Mel watched the sights roll past her. She had never been to Maine before and wasn't sure what to expect. She had only been in New York City for a few days, but it was how she expected it. However, Maine was something she knew nothing about - except for maybe bears and stuff. Other than that, she hadn't the slightest idea.
Within minutes the cab driver pulled up to a nightclub and she looked at it. It looked rather small on the outside, but she knew it was probably huge. She smiled sweetly at the taxi driver and paid him the fare. "Thanks," she said before exiting. She noticed the cab linger around for another minute before driving off. Mel smiled slightly. She loved when people noticed her. She realized that sounded a bit narcissistic, but hey, it was true. It's not like she would deny it if someone asked her.
She could feel the music pumping through her body before she even walked in the door. That was just how she liked it - loud and hot. And when she walked into the club, she got both. The place was packed. Everyone was so close you could practically feel the body heat emanating from them. This made her very happy. She winked at the bouncer and made her way through the crowd of people and toward the bar. Mel looked at the bartender and smiled. "Can I have a pink gin cocktail, please?" As she waited for her drink, she glanced around quickly to see if she knew anybody. She didn't expect to, but you never know. She knew that a lot of other people on the tour were party goers too, but she didn't recognize anyone. She thanked the bartender for her drink and sat at the bar, this time looking more closely at her surroundings. She knew it was only a matter of time before someone came up to her.

Melrose was what some would call a people watcher. She found amusement in watching what other people did and how they did it. Like the guy across the dance floor who seemed to be in his late thirties, hitting on every girl that he saw. She had watched him for a good five minutes, and also watched how every girl turned him down. She noticed a glint on his finger. A wedding ring. She shook her head lightly. Some guys were just pigs.
She sipped her drink, savoring it. She had turned her attention away from the man and to the other people on the floor. Mel had gotten a few stares, people recognizing that she was one of the new bands on the tour that had come to their town. She had winked at a relatively young man and thought that he was going to faint. She stifled a giggle and waved at a few others. They were probably wishing they had a pen and a paper right about that time to get her autograph. She smirked to herself. She liked this life.
She had finished her cocktail and ordered another, this time in a highball glass. She hated the fancy martini glasses - they never held much, and she didn't like having to keep going back to the bar. She thanked the bartender once more and resumed her people watch. She wondered if there was anyone even remotely interesting or good looking to flirt with. Not like she would do anything, she just liked to flirt. A lot. Some called her a slut, and she had punched those some in the face. She wasn't opposed to doing it again, especially to anyone on this tour.
No one had caught her eye. There were many attractive people there, just none that Melrose thought was worth her time. She sighed. She didn't want to go back to the bus so early. But what else could she do besides sit there and drink by herself? She frowned lightly and took a sip of her cocktail. Suddenly she saw someone familiar walking toward her and she smiled brightly as Calico took the seat next to her. "Hey, pretty boy," she said with a wink. She was relieved. Calico was obviously someone worth her time and attention - she adored him. He was probably one of the nicest people she had ever met, and she thought he was sweet. She smiled again. "You're no club person, doll. What are you doing here?"

Can`t you see that I am human,
I am breathing and you don't give a damn, Calico had always been comfortable around people. He was easy to get along with and generally the population was fond of that character trait. However when he came on the tour he discovered a new breed of people- one that couldn't care less whether he was nice or not. The hostility had put him off so much that he had already decided to switch bands once.
Yet he found that Melrose was always pleasant company. Anytime he was in the lounge or kicking around in the presence of the crazies on tour, her arrival was always a relief. Simply put, she made him feel like a little less of an outliar. When he took up a seat next to her, she greeted him with a welcoming grin.
"You're no club person, doll. What are you doing here?" she exclaimed. He laughed.
"Well, Sonny and Finn have been dragging me through these palces all week so I figured I'd see if it was any less hectic on my own. I'm not quite sure I have the hang of it yet."
He chuckled good naturedly and took a sip of his drink. Now that he had stopped ducking and weaving through the crowd, he had an opportunity to look around. A small group of girls on the dance floor were eyeing him with flirty interest. He flashed them a wink but turned back to Melrose.
"What about you? Spontaneous night out?"

Melrose sipped her drink, glancing around. The same guy she had seen just minutes before had seemed to have spied her, and began making his way toward her. She made a face and turned her body completely toward Calico, as if they were in deep conversation. She shuddered. "Oh, Dear Lord," she muttered. "That guy over there has been flirting with every girl here. I swear on my soul if he comes over here, I'm going to chop his dick off." She laughed, making it a priority to not turn and look back at the man to see if he was still coming toward her. Maybe he would see Calico and back off, thinking they were a thing or something. She could only hope.
"...I figured I'd see if it was any less hectic on my own. I'm not quite sure I have the hang of it yet." She laughed lightly. "Oh, no. It's just as hectic, if not more, without someone. Because then you have to deal with the creeps of the club. The ones that no one wants. Grenades, in other words." She laughed again. It sounded kind of mean, but it was true. The people that would hit on someone first were usually the people from the bottom of the barrel. Of course, they were also the first people to get drunk and turned down. That was just naturally the way that it worked; years of DJing at clubs and just partying had definitely paid off. Mel had learned a lot.
She flipped her hair back, keeping her body turned toward Calico. She felt the man's eyes on her still, and she silently cursed herself. She shifted in her seat and kept her eyes on Calico. "What about you? Spontaneous night out?" She smiled and nodded. "Yeah. Had to get out for a little bit. Justyn and Judas piss me off sometimes, so I just leave." She laughed, drinking her cocktail. "You learn to get to used to them, though. Sometimes I feel like a fucking den mother or something." She laughed again and scrunched her nose.
She glanced at the group of girls who he had winked at moments before, and she turned back to him with an eyebrow raised. " Oh my," she said, sipping her drink, "is my pretty boy going to get it in with a club girl? The horror!" She grinned playfully. She knew the answer was probably no; Calico was too sweet for something like that. She could see that he didn't let his good looks get to him and that was good. There were too many conceited people on the tour anyway, including her. It was refreshing to see someone who really wasn't.

Can`t you see that I am human,
I am breathing and you don't give a damn, When Melrose all but ducked behind him, Calico swiveled his carefully gelled head to see the source of the disturbance. He found it to be a cheesy middle aged man trying to hit on all the girls in the club, and the guy's eyes were locked on Melrose. Calico grinned and caught the guy's attention, suddenly having a stony expression. He pointed at his eyes, then at the man in question, shaking his head. The poor he-cougar thought it best to slink away for the time being. Calico turned back to Melrose and nodded resolutely.
"No messin' with my woman!" he laughed, rolling his eyes. Clearly Melrose wasn't his "woman" but hey, he could play along, right?
"Oh, no. It's just as hectic, if not more, without someone. Because then you have to deal with the creeps of the club. The ones that no one wants. Grenades, in other words." she explained, sounding like she knew all the tricks of the trade. It was definitely safe to say that Calico did not, and also had never heard of this "grenade" thing. Ugly people? Creepy people? He didn't figure he wanted to find out.
"Well if you see one headed in my direction, definitely let me know. It would be tragic if I got blown up by a... grenade or whatever." he laughed with a shrug.
Melrose told him about Justyn and Judas, to whom Calico was no stranger. Justyn could be a senseless prick at times, and Judas often got just plain annoying with his overbearing cockiness. They took a shine to him when he joined up, but he'd done a decent job at avoiding their "one girl after another" agenda.
"You learn to get to used to them, though. Sometimes I feel like a fucking den mother or something,"
Calico laughed and nodded. Melrose was the most tame in the group (along with him, which was why they got along so well), so she often cleaned up after the boys' crazy messes. He was learning to take up that job too.
"Oh, don't feel bad. It's definitely no worse than the other band I was in. They were fucking crazy. Legitimately mental patients." he said with a bit of a laugh. In no way was he exaggerating.
When Melrose saw him wink at the girls on the dance floor, a grin played on her lips.
"Oh my, is my pretty boy going to get it in with a club girl? The horror!"
Calico shook his head and chuckled, taking a sip of his drink. Nooo, definitely not. Although he did like dancing at these club things, he didn't do hookups. It wasn't his thing, he didn't like sleeping with people he didn't know. They could have boyfriends, STD's, unfriendly pets, yeesh. Too much hassle. Call him old fashioned, most people did. 'A waste of good looks.'
"Aw c'mon Mel, you know better than that!" he laughed, rolling his eyes and finishing his drink. "Don't make me call your creepy friend back over here!"[/color

Melrose watched in amusement as Calico managed to send the man in another direction. She sighed in obvious relief, grinning as he spoke. "No messin' with my woman!" She laughed, nodding lightly. "That's right, these fools better recognize." She grinned again as she finished her drink. "Thank you, Calico. You're a life saver, literally." She hugged him lightly to show how thankful she actually was, and shuddered at the thought of the man, hoping he wouldn't dare come back to try again. She really would chop his dick off then.
Okay, maybe not in literal terms, but she would make it clear she had no intent of going anywhere with him. Ever since she was allowed to get into clubs, there had been creepers like that trying to get with her. There was occasionally the really attractive guy she hooked up with but would never call again, but ever since being signed to the tour she hadn't done that. One reason was because of Alex, but more so because she wasn't sure if she would even want to touch most of the people that she met. She had almost hooked up with Tommy once, but that's a story for another time.
She swayed slightly to the music that was playing before looking at Calico and chuckling. "Well if you see one headed in my direction, definitely let me know. It would be tragic if I got blown up by a... grenade or whatever." She smiled and replied, "Of course. Can't have my drummer getting blasted away by a grenade. Then Luster Purge would be shit." She grinned and elbowed him lightly. "You've got my back, so I have yours."
She ordered her third drink, already getting an odd look from the bartender. Mel shrugged. She very rarely ever got drunk; it took quite a bit to even get her buzzed. She just loved the taste of alcohol. She liked being around people who were shitfaced after having only a few drinks while she would sit there on her fourth beer, still playing the role of the 'designated driver'.
Naturally, having a high tolerance of alcohol, she was more often than not fucked up on some other drug. Getting high was more her thing than get than getting drunk, and that was just fine by her. She thanked the bartender for her drink, this time drinking it more slowly to really savor the taste of it. "Aw c'mon Mel, you know better than that!" She laughed, glancing at the group of girls who started to give her dirty looks. She stuck her tongue out at that the girls quickly, smiling sweetly. She then brushed them off, looking back at Calico, "Just making sure. You don't need to get an STD from one of those whores, anyway." Melrose chuckled, then raised an eyebrow at his comment about calling the creepy man back over. She narrowed her eyes playfully. "You wouldn't dare," she said, holding in a laugh in an attempt to act serious.

Can`t you see that I am human,
I am breathing and you don't give a damn, "Thanks Calico. Your'e a life saver. Literally," she said, and Calico grinned, stretching his arm behind his head.
"Yeah well, you gotta start somewhere. Can't save the world every day, so i figured I'd settle with you for tonight. he laughed, keeping a lock on the creeper out of the corner of his eye.
Calico knew Melrose was with Alex. Of course, that was common knowledge. But sometimes he wondered if Alex was really at her speed. After all, Melrose was a doll- she was classy and poised and knew what she was doing. Alex was a street kid. He sold drugs, had other priorities and a penchant for trouble. It wasn't that Calico didn't like the kid, it was just... ah well, no point in worrying about it now.
"Can't have my drummer getting blasted away by a grenade. Then Luster Purge would be shit." she said, but he held up a hand.
"I'm sure they'd survive with their phenominal tabler, baby face of a singer, twat of a synth player and douchey rapper." he joked, smirking at her. He was quite fond of his new band, and didn't think badly of them. However, all of the previous descriptions were fact, and the players would have probably agreed with him, in fact.
When she assured Calico that she was behind him and vice versa, he ordered another one of those screwdriver thingies and smiled at her. Things had certainly started out a little rough on the tour, but after switching bands, everything seemed to shape up. He caught Melrose eyeing the girl cluster still, sticking her tongue out at them. Successfully he stifled his laughter.
"Just making sure. You don't need to get an STD from one of those whores, anyway," she replied, but he couldn't put his finger on her tone. Concerned, defensive, but certainly not jealous. Melrose knew her worth, and that was why he didn't feel the need to worry too much about it. Before he could reply, she was already aghast at the possibility of her he-cougar returning from exile.
"Don't worry, i wouldn't do that to you," he reassured her with a snort of laughter. "Jeez Melrose, your'e lucky I'm so nice."

Sipping her drink, Melrose eyed Calico curiously. She always wondered why such a sweet guy like him was never really seen with a girl. Well, not from what she knew, of course. He probably could've had a girlfriend or whatever before Luster Purge was signed, but she hadn't seen any signs of that. She knew he wasn't one to hook up with anyone, either, so it just made her all the more curious. Not that she was all too concerned about his love life - and even if she was, what would it matter anyway?
"Yeah well, you gotta start somewhere. Can't save the world every day, so I figured I'd settle with you for tonight." She grinned, bowing her head. "Then I suppose that I should be honored, right? You've just saved me from a terrible thing, how may I ever repay you?" She chuckled and winked at him, again wondering why he didn't have a girl. He was an absolute sweetheart, and funny as well, and she knew that any girl would be lucky to have him. Including her, but she figured that she should probably keep that thought to herself.
"I'm sure they'd survive with their phenomenal tabler, baby face of a singer, twat of a synth player and douchey rapper." Melrose pushed his hand back down, rolling her eyes. "Oh, please," she said, smiling. "We'd go downhill without you. We survived and managed to get here, but with you in the band now it's so much better. I don't know how we even existed without your amazing talent." She smiled again, every word being true. Although she would never say it to the other band mates, she believed that Calico was probably one of the best things that happened to Luster Purge, and to her, as well; she never really had a close friend, but she could feel that she was beginning to like Calico more than she initially thought she would.
As a matter of fact, they were a lot alike. They were both rather simple people, who weren't as crazy as the others on this hectic tour, and they were both just relaxed people. On the other hand, Mel also knew that they were different in many ways, as well. Calico was much nicer, and didn't seem to have as short of a temper as she did. That was another reason why she was so drawn to him - him keeping a cool head all the time seemed to balance her out, and she liked that. Alex was like that, too, but definitely not to the same extent.
"Don't worry, I wouldn't do that to you. Jeez Melrose, you're lucky I'm so nice." Melrose raised an eyebrow, taking a sip of her drink. "Is that so?" she challenged, her eyes glinting in the light. "Well you're lucky you're so damn handsome." She reached out and squeezed his cheeks gently, flashing a bright and amused smile.

Can`t you see that I am human,
I am breathing and you don't give a damn, Calico couldn't help but grin at Melrose over his drink. She was always so comfortable wherever she went- constantly in her element. It was as if she knew what she was doing in every situation and his poise impressed her. Calico was a laid back person, he could usually kick it and blend in to most scenarios, but he never quite had a handle on it like Melrose did. She was a catch, he just kind of wished she realized it as much as he did.
"Then I suppose that I should be honored, right? You've just saved me from a terrible thing, how may I ever repay you?" she said, and Calico shrugged playfully.
"Well, I'd say dinner but I don't think that'd go over too well with gangster gangster. he chuckled, only half kidding. It wasn't that he didn't like Alex. Hejust had a slight resentment for him. But Calico wasn't the type to start a fire or even keep it going. He much preferred to keep any inflammatory opinions to himself for the sake of peace. God knows he didn't have any of it before Luster Purge.
" I don't know how we even existed without your amazing talent."" she explained, making him turn bright red from the praise. Nobody ever really paid attention to the drummer, but hey, if Melrose did that was quite good enough for him.
"Oh come on now, you're making me blush. I think you're exaggerating. he laughed, taking a sip of his drink. He would be the first to admit that things had gone considerably uphill since joining luster purge. Although he found Justyn and Judas obnoxious many a time, he was still fond of them. The entire band felt like a family, and Melrose was kind of like the cherry on top.
She looked more than relieved when he reassured her that he wouldn't sick the old guy on her, shooting back with a "Well you're lucky you're so damn handsome," Calico laughed brightly as she grabbed his cheeks and stuck his tongue out at her.
"Don't give me that, Miss modest. Everyone knows you're the head turner in this room," he said with a fake eye roll. "I'm onto your little tricks."

Melrose loved being around Calico, and it was clear he loved being around her. Their friendship came so easily, unlike many, and she cherished it. Not many things came easy for her, so it was relieving when she and Calico met. Their friendship would definitely go a long way, which made her only vaguely wonder about how it would be if they were in a relationship. She knew that if she had ever voiced that, she would probably be expected to feel guilty, since she was sort of with Alex. But even thinking about it she didn't feel guilty. She should have, maybe; but it was difficult when he was never around anymore.
"Well, I'd say dinner but I don't think that'd go over too well with gangster gangster." She laughed and waved a hand in dismissal. "Yeah, I'm positive that he cares so much," she said with a slight roll of her eyes. "He hasn't been around, as I'm sure you've noticed. Anyway, dinner it is." She grinned and winked at him. Yes, she was flirting, and no, she still didn't feel guilty. Perhaps other people would have called her a slut or something along those lines, but she knew who she was and what she did was no one else's business. Besides, if there was one thing she wasn't it would be a slut. Call her anything else except that if there is there's not a death wish involved.
Melrose smiled as Calico's face turned a bright shade of red. She didn't think she had ever seen him blush before, and it made her smile grow wider. "Oh come on now, you're making me blush. I think you're exaggerating." She shook her head, her light blond hair falling over her shoulders. "I can assure you that I most definitely am not! If anything I'm not exaggerating enough. Besides, you blushing is adorable." She laughed lightly, certainly not exaggerating about that. She sipped her drink, loving the feel of the music rising up through her feet and surging through her body. She began to sway slightly again, tapping her fingers on the bar ever so lightly.
""Don't give me that, Miss modest. Everyone knows you're the head turner in this room. I'm onto your little tricks." She couldn't help but laugh at that. "Head turner? No. Creeper magnet? Yes." She grinned and laughed again. She looked at him and tilted her head. "You know," she began, "I often wonder how you ended up here of all places or things you could be doing. You could be an underwear model or something, but instead you're here, on this tour, with a bunch of sleazebags, sluts, and assholes." Mel shook her head. "It just baffles me, I suppose. You're too good to be here."
And that was all very much true. She knew there were many other things Calico could be doing with his life and he got stuck on a tour. Not that she wasn't glad that he did, because she sure as hell was; he kept her balanced, made her laugh, was always a sweetheart, and, of course, very attractive. The group of girls that kept staring at him would vouch for that last part. She took a large sip of her drink and stood up, tugging on his hand. "Dance with me?" she asked with a smile. Swaying in her seat just wasn't going to cut it.
