It was just another night at the club. Or at least, that's what Melrose had thought it would be. She had gone out drinking pretty much every night since Alex had been gone and had woken up the next morning not knowing what had happened the night before. It was nice to dull her mind for a little bit, and when it wore off she would just go back the next day and do it all over again. The band hadn't been too pleased with her lately but she didn't really care. As long as she was insensitive to the pain she knew would surely come if she was sober, then she was a happy camper.
She hadn't brought her car that night, or for the past few nights. She took a cab there and back because she knew she'd be drunk off her ass by the end of the night and didn't feel like wrapping her expensive car around a pole anytime soon. Exiting the cab she winked at the driver and tipped him. "See you later, doll," she said with a small chuckle. She sauntered into the club, instantly getting looks and compliments sent her way. She smirked. Just another night.
She walked up to the bar and ordered a drink, sitting down. The club was packed that night and she smirked again. She flirted with a lot of guys but never had sex with any of them, and tonight had brought a lot of fresh meat onto the scene. Her drink arrived and she smiled at the bartender, thanking her. She swiveled in her seat and crossed her legs. Upon moments of surveying the scene she found four potential guys she could dance with. She smirked and sipped her drink. She stood up to go walk over to one of them when she heard something shocking.
It was Alex's name. At first she thought it was someone else but as she looked up on the stage there he was standing there, taking in the crazy hype from the crowd. Mel stopped dead in her tracks and stared. Was that really him, or was it all just in her mind? She blinked a few times to make sure she wasn't just seeing things. She wasn't. It was really him.
She moved back to the bar and drank the rest of her alcohol in one sip, ordering another. Just when she thought she was finally getting over him, he was here. All the feelings for him came back and she couldn't drink any faster. She sat there, her back turned to the stage as his show went on. He was amazing but she resisted the urge to turn around and bust open the skull of every single girl gawking at him.
The show ended and she decided that she'd go say hi. You know, like old friends. She had one more drink before her courage was built up enough. She sent a few smiles and smirks to various people, and even to one of the bodyguards that guarded the entrance to the backstage. Melrose glanced around and found who she was looking for instantly. She wondered if he'd recognize her; she hadn't worn that much makeup that night, going for a slight natural look. She walked up to a group that consisted of him and a few others. "Hi Alex," she said, forcing a smile.

Alex was on his game. He had blown up, completely. Number one up & coming Artist in three countries and his first album at number 4 on the hot 100 billboard. But behind everything had gone to shit - the record completely denied every track he'd submitted in the last week, they wanted him to get a new sound and a new beat, they wanted him to change the content in his lyrics, they basically wanted him to change him, and he wasn't having it. Him and the record company were butting heads, and they had threatened to cut him loose, and he had threatened to leave, not that that had worked much.
Right now they were riding on the success of his first album, doing shows at local clubs and some shows in a few nearby states. It was good, but he wanted to be in the booth making more music, he didn't care as much about shows, he was doing that before, he wanted the record company to be getting his albums out, but they couldn't do that if they kept turning down his tracks. It was a constant standstill, and he was growing tired of it. He needed something new.
Tonight's show was just like all the rest, they said his name, the crowd went nuts, cheering and screaming, hype upon hype. He was the local favorite pretty much everywhere he went, shutting clubs and malls down left and right. But the shows were starting to lose their excitement to him, same old songs and same old everything, they needed something new, even the fans were asking for new tracks.
After the show, Alex went backstage, chilling in the lounge with a couple other artists and their guests. It was helpful talking to people who were going through the same thing as him, or people who had. He was talking about some of the tricks for dealing with labels when he heard his name in a familiar voice. “Hi Alex” He looked up, his eyes going wide as he stared into a pair of bright green eyes, that beautiful face he saw every time he closed his eyes. He didn't believe it at first. There, standing in front of him, was the same girl he had left behind on a pier, the girl he thought about every day. “M- Melrose?” he blinked, standing up and walking over, realizing his mouth was open, he blushed, closing it. “Is it really you? What are you doing here?” He glanced down, noticing something missing from around her neck, frowning softly. { Words }{ 433 } { Tag }{ Melrose } { Outfit }{ Click me! } { Music }{ Love Like This (Eternity) - Jay Sean } { Notes }{ again, make it pretty later }

Melrose contemplated turning around and heading back to the bar. This was probably a bad idea, anyway. She didn't want to stir up those old feelings again just to get hurt once more. She was so unsure of herself and she could feel the alcohol kicking in a little bit. Thank God, she thought. She didn't think she could deal with seeing Alex again while completely sober.
It was odd, seeing him right there, chatting with other people like he belonged there instead of with her. He probably did, but she didn't want to know how much truth there was to that. She vaguely remembered the morning at the pier when he broke her into pieces. Indeed, she had gone back to the bus to a whole bunch of people saying that she should have listened and blah blah blah. She had ignored them and everything they said until now. This definitely was a bad idea. Did she want to get herself into the same mess again?
The answer was she did, she just didn't know if she was ready to talk to him again or not. There were a whole bunch of beautiful girls and he had probably found someone new anyway, so what in the fuck was she doing right now? She had no business to be invading him like that. She almost turned and ran to the bar before she noticed him look up and speak. "M-Melrose? Is it really you?" She held up her arms. "Yup. In the flesh." She smiled slightly, wondering if it wasn't too late to just leave.
"What are you doing here?" Mel shrugged. "Oh, you know," she replied, waving a hand idly. "Doing what I do best. Drinking of course." She chuckled humorlessly. Talk about awkward. She glanced around, gesturing to everything. "You look like you're doing well," she said. "You were great too, by the way." Well, from what she actually paid attention to. There were so many thoughts racing through her mind when he was on stage that she only caught snippets here and there. "So uhm... how've you been?" she asked, fidgeting her fingers. Talk about really awkward.

Alex was completely shocked. He hoped, all the time, that maybe she would be at one of his shows, or in a club he went, but he never really expected it to happen. She looked just as nervous being here as he felt. He doubted she was here on purpose, just a chance meeting – fate, maybe, if you believe in that stuff. Alex did. “oh, you know” She was fidgety and wouldn't meet his eyes “doing what i do best. Drinking of course” Alex smiled. Good ol' Mel. “that's not what you do best, but your close” He moved a little closer, she was finally here, and already he didn't want her to leave. He would have said that his feelings for her were all rushing back, but they had never really left.
Alex hadn't even looked at girls since Melrose, he didn't want to. It was safe to say she had him hooked. At one of his show, a girl had stripped completely, throwing her bra and panties on stage at him. She ended up leaving with some other black guy who she was too drunk to realize wasn't Alex. “you look like you're doing well” He smiled, looking down. It was true, he was, he was successful, at least his career. He didn't know about him personally. “yeah, i guess i am” He shruged softly “You were great too, by the way” Alex beamed shyly, if that's even possible. A comment had never meant so much to him. “thanks Melrose, that.. means a lot that you think that”
“so uhm... how've you been?” Alex's face dropped a bit. He hadn't been well at all. He was frustrated at the recording company, disappointed, too. He had expected this to be his big break, he wanted things to go faster. This was supposed to about the music, Alex didn't care about money, he already had that, but that's all that the record company wanted. He needed someone who was as passionate about the music as he was. “i've been...” Alex looked in her eyes, pausing for a moment “Melrose, can we talk somewhere.. alone?” { Words }{ 366 } { Tag }{ Melrose } { Outfit }{ Click me! } { Music }{ Forever - Chris Brown } { Notes }{ Take me back, plz }

Melrose realized she was being a little fidgety and nervous. She willed herself to stop. She didn't need to look like a mess in front of him, not now. She desperately wanted another drink. This was already getting to be too hard to handle. She sighed silently. She had a bad feeling about going out tonight but she did it anyway. Her mother always told her to trust her first instinct but the one night she didn't and look who she runs into.
She glanced up slightly as he spoke. "That's not what you do best, but you're close." The corner of her mouth turned up a little bit. She opened her mouth to say something but thought against it, and she stepped back as he stepped forward. She didn't want to get close enough to smell his cologne, because who knows what she would do or say. Her mouth turned back to a flat line. It wasn't that she wasn't excited to see him, it was just that she was nervous, and still hurt.
She suddenly felt guilty that she was still hurting. Clearly he was doing quite well with this deal, and perhaps it was the best thing that he had left. Well, for him. She'd been a hot mess ever since. She hated how he made her crumble so easily, so she stood up straighter and held her head higher. She wasn't weak, she remembered. She could easily turn into the cold hearted bitch she was before she arrived on the tour.
"Yeah I guess I am. Thanks Melrose, that.. means a lot that you think that." Mel smiled softly. Apparently she meant a little more than she thought she did anymore; she sure didn't feel like she meant that much lately. "You're welcome. I guess you leaving was the right decision after all." She didn't feel like that in the slightest but felt like it should be said. Maybe it'd make her believe it.
"I've been... "Melrose, can we talk somewhere.. alone?" Her brows furrowed. What did he really want to talk to her about alone? She glanced back the where she came, thinking about making up an imaginary friend and saying that she couldn't leave this friend by herself at the bar. She turned back around and looked at him. "Uhm... sure, okay." She figured that lying wasn't the best way to get reunited with her.. what? Ex-boyfriend? It pained her to even think about it.
